Ever since 1995 Identity Compass International develops the Identity Compass®, a profound and well researched instrument to measure thinking preferences. It shows substantial correlations to classical personality tests. But these are not that high that the Identity Compass® itself must be called a personality test. The average of the  correlations is around .40. Therefore the Identity Compass definitively has it's roots in the classical personality. Yet it is much more differentiated and therefore not that stable. For this reason the Identity Compass is an excellent tool for coaching and training, as single preferences may be changed. The inner consistency has been optimised and is between .70 and .95, on average at .80.
